There’s a good, well-written article in the Guardian (of course) today, called Dawn of the New Pagans. www.theguardian.com/… For those who don’t know, the UK has an official state religion, the Anglican Church, and the King is the head of the church. (This is what the US is not— we’re a secular state).
The big takeaway that’s relevant to US politics is this: “While less than half the UK population identified as Christian in the 2022 census, 74,000 people declared they were pagan, an increase of 17,000 since 2011. And that might well be a significant underreporting.”
Got that? Less than half the UK considers themselves “Christian”, of any stripe. No wonder the right is terrified… because it’s happening here, as well (there was a recent news story that about 25% more churches in the US shuttered than were opened last year).
