Tarot Minor Arcana: The Sixes.

This week I will discuss the Sixes of the tarot minor arcana.

The Sixes of the Tarot del Toro tarot deck. In decks such as this one there's no reversed interpretation for the pips; the cards are the same either way.

An even number, the Sixes represent a period of relative calm following the strife and struggles of the Fives. This calm however is mostly outward; thoughts and emotions are working strongly within us, like ocean currents below the surface. Unseen by others, except perhaps for those who know how and where to look. The Sixes indicate a time of inward seeing, of acknowledging the influences of our past and recognizing how far we've really come.

The Six of Pentacles of the DruidCraft, Hanson-Roberts, Ethereal Visions, and Crow tarot decks.

The Six of Pentacles represents both our own generosity, and willingness to accept the generosity of others; this can be financial or other tangible help, but also a generosity of the spirit. When we can give grace along with donations and  help to others, we open the way for more blessings to enter our own lives unimpeded. The gift becomes the blessing of the giver as well as the one receiving it.

Reversed, this card can warn against falling into potentially serious debt. It can also represent being taken advantage of by someone who has mistaken your generosity for an easy mark. Mindfulness is advised in matters of spending and giving.

The Six of Swords of the DruidCraft, Hanson-Roberts, Ethereal Visions, and Crow tarot decks.

The Six of Swords represents making a choice that may be difficult but ultimately beneficial. The traditional illustration shows a journey across water, leaving turbulence behind and moving decisively towards a place of safety. This can mean an actual move to a new home or career, possibly far from where you began. It can also represent a choice to embrace a different way of thinking which can in time improve every aspect of your life.

Reversed, the Six of Swords is about feeling stuck. We feel burdened by something- episodes from our past, the deeply ingrained patterns of our upbringing, a habit of body or of mind-  which must be dealt with before real change can happen.

The Six of Wands of the DruidCraft, Hanson-Roberts, Ethereal Visions, and Crow tarot decks.

The Six of Wands is about being recognized by others. Our hard work, our contributions, our efforts whatever they may be are acknowledged and valued by those around us. It's a very happy, optimistic message. It's also a reminder that you are appreciated and even admired by those around you; accept that, without diluting it with negative self-talk. This kind of recognition is deserved!

In the reverse position, the message becomes one of a serious lack of confidence in one's own abilities which can manifest as either excessive shyness or, paradoxically, insufferable arrogance.

The Six of Cups of the DruidCraft, Hanson-Roberts, Ethereal Visions, and Crow tarot decks.

The Six of Cups remembers the little kid that still exists deep inside the adult. Sometimes the endless round of daily effort and responsibility feels not just relentless but actually increasing. It can wear down the strongest of us eventually. There may be a wistful nostalgia for the simplicity and joys of the childhood we outgrew...or perhaps never had. This card will urge you to take a much-needed break from the drudgery. Let yourself indulge in the sort of fun, and sense of adventure, that you probably really miss as a grownup. It'd do you good.

Inverted, this card can represent a need to deal with childhood traumas which  hinder your progress in life when allowed to fester unresolved within you. It can also warn against the temptation to childishly ignore your responsibilities or push them onto others to deal with.
